Lower Bills for High Water Needs: United Utilities WaterSure Scheme Explained

WaterSure is a scheme for customers with a water meter who need to use lots of water, but might struggle to afford it.

What Support is Available from the WaterSure Scheme?

While United Utilities cannot eliminate your bill entirely, they can limit the maximum amount you are charged. This means that regardless of how high your meter reading goes, you will only need to pay up to the average bill amount.

Who is Eligible?

If you have a water meter, receive benefits, and can provide a valid reason for using a lot of water, such as having three or more children living in your household or if you live with a medical condition, you may meet the criteria to qualify for this scheme.

How to apply for the scheme?

Our United Utilities Trust Fund advisors at Citizens Advice East Lancashire can assist all United Utilities customers living in the Burnley or Pendle area.

To apply for the scheme, you’ll need to fill in the online form here: https://www.unitedutilities.com/my-account/your-bill/difficulty-paying-your-bill/eligibility-criteria/difficultypaying/

If you have any difficulties, reach out to us at one of our offices or during our outreach sessions. We'll be more than happy to help you check your eligibility and/or assist with filling out the forms.
